What is Houston Monthly?
Houston Monthly promotes meaningful social interaction through monthly social and educational events, as well as a community calendar and blog. Houston Monthly events offer the opportunity to socialize with community-oriented people and learn about the local art and music scene, beneficial community-building programs, travel possibilities, hobbies, and much more. The calendar will promote additional meaningful opportunities to be involved in Houston communities, while the blog will offer ways to stay connected on line.
Who can submit event listings to the calendar?
Everyone is able to submit event listings to the calendar. All new listings must be approved by a calendar editor. This may take up to 24 hours or even longer in extreme busy periods. It is best to submit listings as far in advance as possible. Some are featured on Houston radio.
Please remember to include event location and contact information in your description. You may include a html link to on-line information about your event.
You can become an assistant calendar editor by contacting us by email at calendar [at] houstonculture.org. This Houston Institute for Culture volunteer position will make you a calendar subscriber who is able to receive event reminders if you choose and approve event submissions, including your own event submissions, in a timely manner. Abuse of this opportunity, such as posting inappropriate content, will result in loss of this privilege.
How can I view or subscribe to the calendar?
The calendar can be viewed by the day, week, month or year. Printer friendly views are available. You may also view and print events for the upcoming week in a list format by selecting "Weekly Event Report" at the bottom of the page.
You can download calendar entries to certain services and devices. This will require you to have specific knowledge of the type of calendar or device you use.

Who plans upcoming Houston Monthly programs?
Anyone who is interested is welcome to help plan activities for the Houston Monthly series. Please contact Houston Institute for Culture and plan to attend an upcoming Houston Monthly event. These are generally informal social and educational events and present a perfect opportunity to offer suggestions and assistance with upcoming programs.
